Submit your FAFSA by the state deadline in order to qualify for state aid.
High school seniors, college, and grad students, start your engines: the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, otherwise known as the FAFSA, will be available on October 1. Though the federal deadline for this particular academic year is June 30, 2023, it’s best to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after the form becomes available. That’s because most states and colleges and universities distribute financial aid on a first-come, first-serve basis. Your best chance of qualifying for as much aid as possible is to submit your FAFSA application as soon as possible – but also by the state deadline, which are all listed below. Know your state’s deadline, and gather all of the materials you need in order to complete the FAFSA. It’s nearly go-time.

Alabama – Check with your financial aid administrator. Alaska -- Alaska Education Grant: ASAP after Oct. 1, 2021. Awards are made until funds are depleted. Alaska Performance Scholarship: For priority consideration, submit your application by June 30, 2022. Awards are made until funds are depleted. Arizona – Check with your financial aid administrator.
