Has anyone done either of these before? With my first two children my partner was not exactly supportive/ educated (I promise I don’t mean that in an insulting way) to assist/encourage either. This time around I have a more supportive partner and a big support system. My first two were both induced per doctor request. Reasons were both they thought baby wasn’t growing, then said it’s because I am tall babies came out 7-8 lbs and healthy. If you have done either, or just no epidural can you give tips/ articles or any advice. I appreciate it.

All I know is giving birth in the water. 🤣 I couldn't imagine giving birth any other way. It takes so much of the pressure off. I don't typically labor in the pool but get in once I feel like I am nearing/in transition. Before that I labor all over the house and outdoors at times LoL. Listen to some birth stories on podcasts like Happy Homebirth, Freebirth Society, Painfree Birth, Doing it at Home and Peaceful Homebirth Podcast. While most of these are clearly focused around homebirth, most discuss waterbirths in their stories and can be helpful when planning your birth and helping you to gain confidence. Also, I'm sorry that your previous practitioners misguided you by making you worry about your babies' sizes and intervened medically. One of the many reasons why I give birth outside of the medical system. I am tall myself and never get very big (even at 42 weeks) and mine have all been 8-9.9 lbs. I've never done growth ultrasounds to know what the prediction would be about their sizes though.
I’ve had two births without an epidural, but only one in the water. All I can really say is that what helped me get through it was knowing that pain is temporary and pain alone is never harmful. The end result with no epidural is sooo worth it! I felt like a million bucks afterward. I recommend waiting as long as possible during labor before getting in the water, because it provides a substantial amount of relief and then you can push in a more relaxed state. Good luck! You can do this!

I've had 3 without epi and they were amazing afterwards!! With my last birth, I didn't want an epidural and instead of just stating that from the beginning I was more of a "go with the flow" attitude and several staff asked me if I wanted one which split my mind in two and took my focus off of just being there. Finally my midwife saw it and said, "Yes, you could get an epidural. Let's focus on having a baby." She was out in 10 minutes after that. I needed the reminder that I CAN do it. My second was a water birth. I got in the tub during transition and "rode the waves". It was amazing. You can do this!!
Thank you for all the responses! Sometimes you can get the best information and tips from those who have experienced it. I do plan on talking to my mid wife about it as well. I have a few friends who delivered at this hospital and they have said the midwives are great. A nurse with my company said she worked with the midwives and they kept the rooms calm and were great with communicating with mom/dad. I have been looking for book/articles as well if you have any recommendations please let me know. 😊
